I have the best job in the world, they pay me to travel...
The first time I went thru Tucumcari was 1973. I was going home on leave. Everything else has changed
but this road is the same as it was way back then.
I love the road.

Now the "Real" fun starts.

29 March 10

Went by the shop to see what was new on the car. Jack has the frame stripped down and sandblasted. There were a bunch of mice living "inside" the boxed frame rails. No wonder I never could find the main nest. The frame will get a little more work and then some paint.

I finally got to ride on the Durango Silverton narrow gage railway. What a Blast , It was cold snowy and lots of fun

Old Hot Rods

I was passed by two old Hot Rods the other day. The first one had a split windshield so that makes it a 1953 or older chevy. The second one I have no idea... but they were running hard east of Dallas on I-20
.

I went by the shop yesterday to see how the car is going. All of the rusted out places have been fixed and Jack has shot it with an expoy primer. The next step is final body work. I am really jazzed I wish I could do body work like this.

We pulled 350ft of new cable to the top of the Spring Tower today. The old cable had been hit by lightning and was no good. We started early and worked all day and by 4:00pm we had all three strobe lights working. YeeeeeHaaaa  So we packed up and left town before rush hour traffic got bad. Tomorrow we are going to Arcadia Louisiana to fix a splice.  Arcadia is a little east of where they killed Bonnie and Clyde.

On a clear day you can see Houston from the Tower at Spring. That is I-45 going south.  The cars look very small from up here but the noise is unbelivable. Go to photos/ work for a larger pic.

Catapilus Giagantus

I tripped over this dude the other morning. Its the biggest "caterpillar" I have ever seen. It was headed East so be on the lookout.

17 Oct 09 Good News from the Rod Shop

I went by the Rod Shop yesterday to deliver some parts and to see what Jack has found under five paint jobs.  He sandblasted it down to bare metal and found some rust around the rear wheel wells and on the very rear just below the trunk. There are a few minor dings but all in all the car is very straight and that is outstanding for a 50 year old car that was driven in the snow and slush of Utah and Idaho. So I decided to have Jack and crew pull the body all the way off  that way he can seal and paint the underside of the body and redo the frame. This is going to be a really cool car when it is finished. Check out Jack's website some of the best Hotrods in North Texas have been thru here...
